Chimichurri Sauce

gtacertificate

We are very excited, proud and darn it ecstatically elated that our MAN MEAT FIRE Chimichurri Sauce has been awarded 2 stars at the Great taste Awards. Oooh you clever little sauce you!

AND

It was mentioned on the BBC Radio 4 The Food Programme in July 2010. And they seem to love it too.

Keep watching for more Chimichurri-ness.

"Loving the Chimichurri sauce, marinated with cod tonight. Mixed with mayo as a fab dip last night and super chicken salad at the weekend."

One of our happy customers!

So what is Chimichurri?

Well it's probably the best sauce, in our opinion, to grace the plate of any grilled meat. Think of Chimichurri as the South American version of American Ketchup for fries, German Mustard for Wϋrst, British Vinegar for chips or Chinese soy sauce.

Originating in South America Chimichurri is green in colour although there is a red variant. There is no one definitive recipe but there are a number of constant ingredients, these being fresh herbs, (traditionalist would only use Parsley if keeping true to the Argentine roots), oil, garlic, vinegar, chilli. Our MAN.MEAT.FIRE® sauce pays homage to the wider use of Chimichurri in South America.

Many countries lay claim to inventing Chimichurri but most culinary compasses point to Argentina as the home of this delicious condiment. If nothing else the immense volumes consumed by the Argentineans surely gives them rightful claim. Through the passage of time the recipe obviously moved around the continent and recipes for Chimichurri appear as far north as Mexico.

There are many versions of the origins of the name, too many to go into here, but the majority seem to revolve around the mispronunciation of the English name James. You can find all of  these versions  on various sites on the web. Whoever it was, whenever it was, and whatever the true version, we thank them.

Traditionally, Chimichurri is made fresh for immediate use, but due to the fact that we are big fans of this wonderful sauce we decided to attempt to produce a convenient ready to use bottled version. We think that we have hit the mark with our sauce and can't wait for you to try it and give us your feedback.

As you can see from the label there are no artificial additives just natural ingredients.

Our version is fairly smooth in texture which some may not like, but we do, so there!

How to use Chimichurri Sauce

saucebottles

You can use our Chimichurri not only as a condiment with grilled meat and poultry but it comes into its own as a marinade and base for dips and sauces.

  • Use our Chimichurri as a table top condiment straight from the bottle with grilled meats poultry or even seafood.
  • Add a teaspoon to crème fraiche, yogurt or cream cheese to produce a dip for crudities as appetizers before a party or family function.
  • Marinade plump king prawns in a table spoon or so of Chimichurri before grilling, the longer you marinade the stronger the flavour.

MAN•MEAT•FIRE® Chimichurri sauce is available via our website at the moment, but keep your eyes peeled in your local delicatessen or farm shop as we will be looking for stockists for this and our other products in the very near future.
